Using the Stage display vertically

Normally, you’d use the stage display horizontally, on the front row, on the front of the balcony, on a projector above the tech booth, etc. Sometimes you might need to do it vertically instead.
[tweet “Do you need to hide a stage display behind a column or put it somewhere vertical? Here’s how to do it:”]

The secret here is in tweaking two settings. First, in system display preferences, you have a choice of changing the orientation from normal to 90, 180, or 270. In this case, you’ll need to change it to either 90 or 270, depending on how the stage display is hung.

Next, head into ProPresenter. Now, go into preferences and make a stage display layout that works better vertically. You might need to get rid of a lot of the features (pro tip: make the next slide text a different color from the current slide).

Now, apply that template. Sometimes, (at least on my system), the change won’t take effect correctly on the stage display. If that happens, drag the SD box from the stage display to another display and back. That fixed it for me.

To see more of how I did it, watch the video above.

  1. I have a lightning to hdmi adapter. I didn’t know you could show the stage display app in vertical mode…is it a setting or do you rotate the device? I’ll give this a try and let you know how it goes. Thanks again!
