Podcasting — PowerPress by Blubrry: Three reasons to use it

On today’s Tech Help for Churches, Podcasting — PowerPress by Blubrry: Three reasons to use it

I’m a big proponent of using PowerPress by Blubrry for podcasting. Why? Well, there are a lot of great reasons. Let’s start with what I call “no brainer” reasons.

First, PowerPress formats your feeds for iTunes and Google play. That means you don’t have to create a separate feed either manually or with other software. You just paste the URL of your media in the right spot and voila, your podcast feed is updated.

It also provides a customizable players for both video and audio. There may be other ways to have a player on your site to play your content, but this is a really nice way to do it.

Those are the no-brainers. Here are three things that not everyone knows about or uses that I think make it a lock, though.

First, you have category podcasting. You can either separate sermons into categories by topic, book of the Bible, etc., or you can create a podcast category for each ministry. This way people can subscribe to just what they’re looking for. What’s also great is that there’s a general feed, so people can also subscribe to everything at once.

What if you want to have multiple versions of the same media, though? That’s where podcast channels come in. With this feature, PowerPress lets you add multiple media types per episode. So, you can have audio, video SD, video HD, etc. all for the same content.

Finally, PowerPress has just added a subscription page (like http://TrinityDigitalMedia.com/subscribe) and short links that let you add subscription buttons quickly and easily.
