Transparency and Keying in ProPresenter 5

Whether you want to use hand-drawn lyrics or send something out of your ProPresenter machine and into a switcher, you need to play with transparency.

If you want to use an image with transparency, the best format is a PNG.

If you want to send something out of the Pro5 machine and key with your switcher, there are a few ways to do it.

You can do a luma key, where you key out black (or white, but usually black), chromakey, where you remove either pure green or pure blue, and alpha channels.

Typically, if your switcher can do it, alpha channels are the best way to key out parts of the video because, like a png, it supports gradients of translucency.
