On today’s Tech Help for Churches,

Getting email addresses for your church email newsletter

Once you’ve created your account, how do you get email addresses to send your church newsletter to?

Click To Tweet

Head over to the mailchimp account that you created last week. Login.

First, we’ve got some initial set up to do. We need to create a list. You can have multiple lists, but we’ve got to start with one, so start there.

Next, go to the contact forms and customize what you want to collect. You need email address as a bare minimum. I usually add first name, but as a church you may want to also ask for last name and birthday (so you can wish them a happy birthday).

Remember that the more information you collect, the less likely people will be to fill out the form, so less is more here.

Now, you can send people directly to this form to get the email version or you can also embed it into your website. To do so, go back to the forms page and find the embeddable code and get your web person to add that to the church website.

Next week, we’ll talk about actually creating the newsletter.
