On today’s Tech, No Babel: AV Rental: Why you should look for a rental house before you need it

What happens if the pastor comes to you and says, “We need to live-stream out upcoming retreat,” or “Can we get better video equipment for a guest speaker we have coming in?” Do you have a response? Can you tell him how much it will cost, even roughly?

[tweet “It’s useful to always have an idea how much equipment costs to rent and what’s available of every situation.”]

Having the numbers means that you can immediately say, “I think we can, but it will be in the neighborhood of $500 for the week” or “I don’t think $50 is going to cut it for what you want because the cheapest rental I found was about 4x that.”

You also have a knowledge of what is available so that for special occasions you can suggest something to “take it up a notch.” Once you’ve done that, your pastor might find a way to get that equipment for other special occasions and for more often.
