Hi, Paul. Joel Carlson here from up in Bozeman, MT. Quick question for you…

We’re just getting our system set up for a church plant and I’m running Propresenter 6 on a MacBook Pro. The only issue I’m having is that the output display (through an epson EX3240 projector) shows a thin strip of the desktop background beneath the slides being projected. Can’t figure it out. As far as I can tell, the projector is at 800×600. I’ve resized all the presentations to match those dimensions, yet whatever size I try I still see that strip of the desktop at the bottom. Any ideas?

answer:
What resolution is the output the Mac is sending? Look in system preferences under displays and then click arrangement. Click “Gather Windows”. Now, click on the window that pops up for the projector and click on scaled. Make sure that’s 800×600 (or whatever you want to send to the projector.

Hi Paul – thanks for the video. We use a 3 screen setup where the Mac and ProPresenter (I should mention it’s version 5) think our rear-facing projector is a left screen, center is what we see in the sound booth and on the main projector when ProPresenter is running, otherwise right screen is shown on the front projector.

Anyhow, we use the rear projector to show the lyrics from songs (both front and back) so the worship team can see the words too.

Is there a way to create a document or some type of presentation where we can play a video (actual video file, not just a looping background) up front, and WHILE that plays, also send various still lyric slides to the rear screen so the team on stage can see lyrics there?

Answer: Not in Pro5. In Pro6, it’s pretty easy to do. Now, you can do a work around and mirror the main display and the stage display, but that’s more of a “do it before church” not during church type of thing.

Hi Paul,
Our church is trying to setup some new projectors. They are 300 – 400 feet (by cat6 distance) from the sound board / computer. We have some hdmi to cat6 baluns that send the signal. We are getting a nice picture on the monitors, however, the video is lagged a bunch from the sound board audio (I assume from the network conversion and back.) The audio is fed into the sound board direct from the computer.

Do you have any suggestion on how to best fix this video lag issue?

Answer: Check to make sure where the lag is coming from. Try listen with headphones while watching (to eliminate the sound system) and watching on the computer while listening through the sound system (to eliminate the projector/wiring). Once you figure that out, we can figure out where it’s being introduced and try some other way to do it.
