ProPresenter Tutorial: The right way and the wrong way to show YouTube videos

Over and over again, I’ve heard people ask, “How do you play YouTube video in ProPresenter?” The answer is that it’s not how you’d expect.

The obvious way to show a YouTube video in ProPresenter is to open the built in web browser, type in the URL and show it. Renewed Vision didn’t make the web browser to do that. When you try to do it, you don’t have control it or show it full screen, it just won’t do it.

So, how do you do it? First, and most importantly, get permission from the YouTube video creator to show it. CVLI doesn’t allow you to show YouTube videos, so don’t depend on that.

Next, try a video downloading site. In the tutorial, I used keepvid.com. It’s pretty straightforward. You copy the URL from YouTube and paste it into the window on keepvid. Then you just submit it and download the video in the format you want.

Now, it’s ready to go. You just add it to ProPresenter as you normally would.

The advantage of doing this is that you’re not depending on the Internet to work at the precise moment you need it. As long as you have some time, you can try it a few times and then get a useable file.
