ProPresenter 6 Tutorial: 5 Things you didn’t know Pro6 could do

ProPresenter 6 is a very powerful program. A lot of churches uses it to display lyrics and play the occasional video, but it can do so much more.

[tweet “Here are 5 things you didn’t know Pro6 could do…especially number one. Take a look:”]

1. Show videos with transparency. I think this is the least known thing it can do. Imagine that you build a lyric video, but your lighting director changes her mind on the color scheme. If it’s a ProRes 4444 video with transparency, changing the background is trivial.

2. Have the worship team control ProPresenter. If your music team uses software like Ableton Live, they can send midi notes that control Pro6. What’s great about this is that they can change arrangements and the lyrics change with them. You’ll also need either the control or midi module to make this work.

3. Control ProPresenter from your video switcher. If your switcher has a “roll clip” button, chances are it can send out an RS-232 command that ProPresenter can receive and react to (assuming you have the control module).

4. Output up to four screens with different content. If you have the multiscreen module and the Matrox triplehead2go, you can not only output your stage display and three copies of the main display, but three different templates (with or without lyrics), and the stage display. That’s a total of four outputs with potentially different things on each.

5. Let your pastor control the sermon notes with an RF remote (for a shootout between two that work on ProPresenter for sure, click here). The remote app is great, but sometimes a simple hardware remote will do everything you need. If your pastor is hard to follow or would prefer to control the sermon notes, within 60 feet or so, you can use a third-party presentation remote.
