On today’s Tech, No Babel: Video software that you might have, but don’t know about

You know that Photoshop (affiliate link where you can get it for only $10 a month, along with LightRoom) is the industry standard for graphic design, but did you know that you can also use it for video?

I first figured this out when I was making a cinemagraph (aka subtly moving animated gif). Then, a couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine sent me this article from Cnet about editing video in Photoshop, so a few days ago I tried it.

I’d been in a rush to make a video (before the sun went down) and hadn’t white balanced like I should have. As a result the whole scene had a blue-green hue. So I brought it into Photoshop, converted it into a smart object (so that changes affected the whole clip) and used an adjustment layer to first white balance and de-saturate the clip.

If you want to see the final product, look at the landing page for my Video School 101 course. It’s not to my normal standards, but it’s much better than it would have been and I didn’t need to reshoot.
